Making a Paper Plane

Materials Required

    1. Paper – You can use any type of paper, but standard 8.5 x 11 inch printer paper or A4 paper works well. Avoid using paper that is too thick or heavy as it may be difficult to fold.

    1. Markers or colored pencils – These can be used to draw on the paper before or after folding to add color or designs to your paper airplane.

    1. Stickers – If you have stickers, you can use them to decorate your paper airplane after it’s been folded.

Directions

Building a plane can be a fun and educational activity for kids. Here are some step-by-step instructions to help guide young children in building a simple paper plane:

  1. Start by gathering materials. You will need a piece of printer paper and some felts or stickers.
  2. Fold the paper in half lengthwise, crease it, and then unfold the paper. This will be your center line.
  3. Fold the top corners of the paper down to meet the center line. The point where the corners meet should line up with the center crease.
  4. Fold the top edges of the paper down to meet the center line again, forming a point at the top of the paper.
  5. Fold the paper in half along the center line, pressing the top point down so it meets the bottom edge of the paper.
  6. Open up the top layer of the paper on one side and fold the top corners down to the center crease again. Repeat on the other side.
  7. Fold the wings down along the center crease, making sure that the top edges of the wings line up with the bottom edge of the paper.
  8. Hold the paper plane by the body and gently toss it into the air. If the plane flies straight and level, your build was successful!

With these simple steps, your kids can build a fun and basic paper plane to fly. You can also encourage them to decorate their planes and experiment with different designs to see how it affects flight.
